Dartboard Wall Hanging Guide

Enjoy a game of darts by ensuring that you have enough space, the walls and floors are protected, and that your dartboard is securely in place having measured both the board and throw line several times.

THE LOCATION

1. Find the space and make sure it's open.

Find an open space that's not inhibited by furniture or other obstacles. The width is about 150 cm (5') and the length should be at least 245 cm (8')

2. Flooring

Keep in mind that different materials can easily damage your darts or fade from general play. Ideally, use a Dart Mat, which is a roll out rubber mat specifically designed to protect your floors, protect your darts from dulling, and mark the proper distance from the throw line.

  • Dart points can easily break or dull on concrete, stone, or tile floors.
  • Wood floors will easily be punctured especially the area closest to the board.
  • Linoleum and vinyl flooring are also prone to get a lot of holes.
  • Carpet may easily fade and show the wear of foot traffic between the dart board and the throwing line.

3. Ensure the floor is level

4. Protect your wall

with a protective material or a cabinet

HANGING THE BOARD

1. Measure the bullseye

The center of the bullseye need to be exactly 5' 8" (173cm) from the floor, according to an official rules. Quality boards are hung from the center while others may be hung from the top.

2. Mount the backing board screw in the center hole

3. Mount the wall bracket

The wall bracket should have the opening to the top of the U shaped. Make sure that the center of the bullseye is at 173cm (5' 8") from the ground.

4. Align your dartboard and drop it into the wall brackets by keeping the 20 scoring area vertical

5. Make the throw line (or oche) or use the Dart Mat

The line should be 3' (91cm) wide and 7' 9 1/4" (237cm) for a standard steel tipped set and 8' (244cm) for a soft tipped board.
